The players gave everything and I think it’s details of the game, details like the transition in the scrums, the minutes before and after halftime, that we don’t have enough in our game yet. something to be very proud of. I know the score is difficult, but the effort today, their defense and their work on the pitch… It just wasn’t enough to be at New Zealand’s level. It’s not over yet. We want to go home with a medal. So (the third place match) next week will be huge for us.”
Julián Montoya, captain of Argentina: “I think in the scrum they largely dominated us, so we need to think carefully and know what we need to do better. They scored on every chance they had. They’re an incredible team, and they were better today. We were far from the level we wanted to show. I’m disgusted and really disappointed by this. Our dream of playing in a final is gone but we still have work to do.”
