The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Muhammad Al-Hawaij, directed the relevant departments in the ministry to provide facilities to Chinese companies wishing to work in the Libyan market and solve the problems and obstacles they face in resuming their work.

During his meeting with the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires to Libya, Liu Jian, Al-Hawaij welcomed China’s desire to resume work and complete investment projects, stressing the importance of the role of major companies in investing in Libya.

For his part, Liu Jian expressed the desire and contribution to implementing investment projects and opening direct communication channels between the Chinese Embassy in Libya and the institutions affiliated with the Ministry to organize official visits and bilateral meetings that include business owners, chambers of commerce and joint chambers, with the aim of creating real partnership opportunities between the private sectors in both countries.

The Libyan and Chinese Ministries of Economy agreed in December last year to form a working group of departments and affiliated entities to establish a joint working mechanism to facilitate the return of economic and commercial activity between the two countries.

The Ministry also discussed a joint working mechanism for the return of major Chinese companies to work in Libya to overcome difficulties and review the memorandums of understanding and agreements concluded in the past and amend them in line with the current stage for the benefit of the two countries.
