Berlin – It is an illustrious company that gathered this Thursday in room 500 of the Berlin criminal court. Ali A.-C. and Abais C. sit next to their lawyers – in this trial the members of clans of Arab origin known to the police are co-plaintiffs. Ali A.-C. is the younger brother of clan chief Arafat A.-C., Abais C. is said to be the nephew of the head of another extended family. The third man on the bench is missing. Veysel K. was deported to Turkey in the spring. The 39-year-old is said to have been the man for the “rough” in the clan structures.
The three men are the alleged victims in this trial before the 35th Grand Criminal Chamber. Across from them, behind armored glass, sits Oliviero V, the defendant. The public prosecutor’s office accuses the 30-year-old Italian who lives in Berlin with attempted murder, dangerous bodily harm and violation of the gun law.
