Since the beginning of the war, Israel has received support from many countries in the world, but only one of them has been at war for more than a year and a half. In the last week, military units, police volunteers and ordinary citizens in Ukraine recorded videos of solidarity with Israel, with the aim of expressing condolences and strengthening to the Israelis, but also to tell about what happened to the Ukrainians. The Association of Israeli Friends of Ukraine collects the messages of support from the beginning of the war. ‘Davar’ brings some of them here.
“We express solidarity and full support for the people of Israel in their holy war for their right to exist,” say in the video the fighters of the “Liot” brigade, Ukrainian police, who have been fighting on the Ukrainian front since the beginning of the war. “We Ukrainians understand and share your anger and pain – today we are together in the same ditch and the same front against the forces of darkness and global terrorism.”
“Evil has different names, Hezbollah, Hamas, North Korea, Iran and Russia,” says in the video Alex Lubetsky, a captain in Ukraine’s defense forces, “and we came to banish darkness.”
“Don’t give in to any provocation!”, says the video produced by one of the attack units of the Ukrainian Front. “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Israel!”

“Our people didn’t always know what international terrorism was, and we even voted against Israel in the United Nations,” Boris Bookman, a photographer from Odessa, wrote in a Facebook post, and attached the photo of soldiers with Israeli and Ukrainian flags. “But after the Russian invasion, they started asking: ‘Where Israel’s help?’ Our war is from 2014, but in Israel from 1948. It is surrounded by enemy countries and there are no countries to help it, unlike us. Now is not the time for calculations – now is the time for support. I hope that many people in the world see Russia’s crimes in the war in Israel as well.”
“We understand you very well – we also stand for the defense of our country,” the soldiers in one of Ukraine’s patrol units say in the video. “You must also expel the enemy from your land and we wish you a quick victory.”

“Hundreds of peace-loving citizens, military personnel, including police officers, were murdered,” say the officers of Ukraine’s police patrol unit in a video they produced for Israel and the Ukrainian public. “We patrol officers want to express our deepest respect and appreciation to Israeli police officers and soldiers – those who were the first to lead the fighting and become the defenders of the citizens.”

“We fight here together, and we fight in Gaza together,” Assi, a Ukrainian-Israeli who has been fighting in Ukraine for two years, says in the video. “We will always remain brothers in arms. Glory to Ukraine, the people of Israel live.”
