INTERVIEW – The head of German diplomacy, a member of the Greens party, also calls for more economic autonomy vis-à-vis China.

The German Foreign Minister, a member of the Green party, answered questions from the Figaro during an interview with the correspondents of The worldthe Republic et The country,as part of the Lena alliance.

LE FIGARO. – Do you think Ukraine will be strong enough militarily to force Russia to back down and do you see a chance for peace this year?

Annalena BAERBOCK. – We work on it day and night. But as long as Putin bombs innocent people, violates the UN charter and does not withdraw his troops, we will support Ukraine as long as necessary. It is clear that peace and freedom cannot be achieved in the long term by military means alone. But as long as the Russian president points his gun at Ukraine’s head, negotiations will be blackmail.
