While the Guinean Forces still refuse to join the ongoing transition process and all its related stages, the President of the National Council of the Transition says he has sent letters of invitation to all political coalitions and actors of Guinean civil society. Dr Dansa Kourouma took advantage this Saturday, May 13 during a conference to announce the holding of the orientation debates scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2023 in the hemicycle of the people’s palace.

According to the president of the CNT, all the components of the nation including the actors of the living forces of Guinea, will take part in these debates which mark the final stage for the drafting of the preliminary draft of this new fundamental text for the country that will take into account the mistakes of the past.

“This important mission which must put an end to dark episodes of instability which has cost several hundred Guineans dearly, because the instability has damaged the trust between the people and these leaders, because the instability has dangerously affected the credibility of the republican institutions of our country and besides this instability makes today that all the electoral processes which were held in this country were disputed (…)”, regretted Dr Dansa Kourouma.

This Constitutional orientation debate will end on May 30, 2023. Depending on the established program that the Parliamentary Secretary presented as follows, the various actors will parade.

“From May 16-17, 2023: political coalitions;

May 18, 2023: Social and Professional Actors;

May 19, 2023: trade unions and employers’ organisations;

May 22, 2023: regional coordination and religious denominations

May 23, 2023: academic world

May 24, 2025: Defense and Security Forces (FDS)

24-25: dialogue with the institutions of the Republic (Supreme Court, High Authority for Communication, Court of Auditors, Superior Council of the Judiciary and the Grand Chancellery

May 30, 2023: discussions with the government”, spread the honorable councilor Fanta Conté.

According to the president of the CNT, it is a collegial obligation of all Guineans through this legislative body, to write rules that can unite but also rules that resemble us, of which the Constitution is the superior standard.

“We are going to write it with all the components of Guinea. The methodology we are going to adopt is an inclusive participatory methodology,” said Dr Dansa Kourouma.

It should be remembered that our country has known from 1958 to 2020, five Constitutions in particular:

– the Constitution of 10 November 1958;

– the Constitution of 14 May 1982;

– the Basic Law of 23 December 1990;

– the Constitution of 07 May 2010;

– the Constitution of April 14, 2020.

To these is added the 2021 Transition Charter, which serves as the Constitution during this Transition period, which began on September 5, 2021, following a coup that overthrew President Alpha Condé. .
