Bulgaria won three gold and one silver medal at the Balkan Informatics Olympiad, which was held in Ohrid. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

In the individual ranking, Daniel Koinov from the 12th grade in the “Nancho Popovich” PPMG in Shumen took sole first place. Immediately after him, Boris Mihov from the 12th grade in the “Paisiy Hilendarski” SMG – Sofia took the second place, and our third gold medalist Andrey Stefanov from the 10th grade at the First Private Mathematical High School took fourth place in the individual ranking. The fourth representative of the Bulgarian team, Veselin Markovic, from the 12th grade at the Mathematical High School “Dr. Petar Beron” in Varna won a silver medal.

47 students from 13 Balkan countries officially participated in the competition. Each competition day consisted of solving 3 problems in 5 hours by writing programs with a computer, each problem carrying a maximum of 100 points.

The leaders of the Bulgarian team were Iliyan Yordanov from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the BAS and Biserka Yovcheva, honorary professor of the “Bishop Konstantin Preslavski” Shumen University.
