Ms. Hadja Aicha Bah, Ms. Morel Marguerite Camara, Ms. Samoura Aissata Daffé, Ms. Mariama Aribot and Hadja Saran Daraba, all senior women and former Guinean ministers responded to the call from the authorities to host a panel around the theme, education of mass: girls at school after independence. This round table held this Monday, September 30, 2024 in the congress hall of the People’s Palace, is part of Independence Week. “Drawing inspiration from the past to build the future together” is the central theme that will be debated from Conakry to the interior of the country.

This panel is an initiative of the Ministry of Technical Education, Vocational Training and Employment. The idea, through the sizeable panelists, is to instill values in young girls and women, but also to make them understand the history of Guinea, in particular the bravery of the women who have left their mark. During this panel, great experiences were shared during discussions.

“We thought about occupying the whole week, from October 27th to October 3rd. But taking into account the concerns of all members, we have compiled certain events. Today, we had not the least important panels, because the first spoke about mass education at the time of the revolution from the 1960s to the 1980s. We had seniors who spoke about their experience, about how they did for the development of the feminine layer. And we had in the large room, the intergenerational debate, where you had seniors but also younger people who spoke about the history, and also the future of Guinea. Of those who have inspired, those who continue to inspire and those who plan for the future,” said the Minister for the Promotion of Women, Children and Vulnerable People, Charlotte Daffé, who spoke on behalf of its pairs.

Independence Week, according to her, also sheds light on the country’s economic development megaproject, Simandou 20240, through the development program in particular the PNDS and the PRI.

“Today, the president’s vision for this project is that no woman should be left behind. This is why you have this entire feminine layer mobilized, women not the least, those who have left their mark on us and those who continue to accompany us on a daily basis by providing us with advice aimed at the emancipation of Guinean women. “It’s an ongoing program with the senior women and elders of the four natural regions, as well as others who are not known like the sweepers, because it falls on the International Day of Older Persons,” she mentioned .

Regarding the expectations of the authorities, the minister indicated that the objective of this independence week is to ensure that through the panels, current young girls and women can draw inspiration from the past as reminded the women panelists.

“We have done good things in the past which have worked, particularly in education. So we young women must therefore inspire ourselves to move forward in order to develop this country which has really suffered so much,” concluded Charlotte Daffé.
