Rain and Temperatures
The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (<a href="https://time.news/guatemala-weather-what-does-the-weather-forecast-say-for-this-weekend/" title="Guatemala Weather: What does the weather forecast say for this weekend?”>Insivumeh) predicts widespread cloud cover and a chance of rain throughout the weekend. Friday is expected to be the wettest day, with potential for electrical activity in the northern regions, the Northern Transversal Strip, Bocacosta, and the West.
Maximum temperatures will range from 30-32°C in the Northern, Caribbean, Eastern Valleys, Bocacosta, and Pacific regions. The Central Highlands will experience temperatures between 24-27°C, while the West will be slightly cooler, with maximums between 20-23°C.
Cyclone Monitoring
Insivumeh is monitoring two areas of low pressure, one in the Pacific Ocean and another in the Atlantic. While neither system is currently expected to pose a direct threat to Guatemala, gradual development in the Pacific system is possible in the coming days.
Affected Regions
Residents in San Marcos, Alta Verapaz, Quetzaltenango, Huehuetenango, Quiché, and Petén should take precautions due to the risk of landslides, collapses, or earth falls. Additionally, communities in El Progreso, Chiquimula, Jutiapa, Santa Rosa, Escuintla, Huehuetenango, Quiché, Alta Verapaz, and Petén should be alert for sudden river flooding.
