Chennai: The Chennai Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain in a few districts of Tamil Nadu on 20th and 21st.

Chennai Meteorological Center has issued a report: A low pressure area has formed in the South East Bengal Sea and adjacent Andaman Sea areas today (November 17). It will move west-northwestward and intensify as a low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal by 19th. It is also likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction towards Tamil Nadu-Puduvai and South Andhra coasts during the next three days.

Light to moderate rain at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal on 17th and 18th. On 19th, light to moderate rain with thundershower may occur at a few places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puduvai, Karaikal and at a couple of places in interior Tamil Nadu districts.

On 20th, light to moderate rain with thundershower may occur at many places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puduvai, Karaikal and a few places in interior Tamil Nadu districts. Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Karaikal, Villupuram and Puducherry districts received heavy rain at one or two places.

Light to moderate rain with thundershower may occur at many places over North Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal and few places over South Tamil Nadu on 21st. Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Villupuram districts will receive heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places and Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Puducherry and Karaikal districts will receive heavy rain.

Chennai and its suburbs will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. A few places will see light fog in the morning hours. A few parts of the city may experience light to moderate rain. The maximum temperature will be around 30 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 22 degree Celsius.

A warning to fishermen

On 17th, cyclonic winds of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional 55 kmph are likely to occur over the Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast and Central Bay of Bengal.

Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional speed of 55 kmph are likely to occur over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea, Central East and Southwest Bay of Bengal on 18th.

On 19th, cyclonic winds of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional 55 kmph are likely to occur over Sri Lankan coastal areas, Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southeast and Central West Bay of Bengal.

On 20th and 21st, cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional speed of 55 kmph are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Sri Lankan coastal areas, South West Bay of Bengal, South Andhra coastal areas and adjoining Central West Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen are advised not to visit these areas during these days.
