Weather forecast for next week: starting with heavy storms, then a dramatic turn of events

by time news

The sunny and warm weekend will be followed by a partial weather deterioration for the beginning of Septemberin the first days of next week. However, this will not be a sign of any easing of the Summer, since temperatures will continue to remain high.

First thunderstorms and then African summer again

There will simply be a slight weakening of the African anticycloneexactly like what happened in the past few days. There will be greater instability with a predisposition for daytime thunderstorms in mountainous areas, but this will be a completely temporary weakening of the anticyclone.

The ones we will have therefore they will be purely summer storms and it will not yet be the classic end of summer weather or imminent transition to Autumn. The high pressure field will simply be disturbed by new infiltrations of fresh air at altitude, linked to a North Atlantic vortex.

The intrusion of cooler air at altitude towards the Mediterranean basin will therefore cause effects as early as Monday 2nd. There will be more daytime thunderstorms, especially in the North, in the Alpsbut also on the neighbouring plains, and then scattered across part of central and southern Italy, especially close to the Apennine reliefs.

The African anticyclone’s final blow, before the late summer storm

Temperatures will not undergo major changes with temporary drops in the areas affected by the storms. The persistence of warm-humid air in the lower layers will actually be an incentive for the storms themselves, as it will guarantee marked contrasts with respect to the relatively cooler air at altitude.

This somewhat hectic phase will continue until Wednesday 4th September, then there will be a new increase in pressure with a strengthening of the African anticycloneThis will result in a new period of stability and with temperatures rising to particularly high values for the period, even 10 degrees above average.

There could be the hottest days of September, with temperatures that especially in the South and in Sardinia could reach peaks of 40 degreesThis final blow from the African anticyclone could be the last one so scorching, waiting for a much more decisive jolt this time.

The late summer storm could seriously break out over the weekend of 7/8 Septemberwith the dismantling of the Afro-Mediterranean anticyclone. We do not know the extent of this atmospheric damage, but Italy should finally enjoy a relief that will bring temperatures back to average.
