Crest Meteorological Officer Kalanidi Mohd Saliheen said that increased temperature will be seen in the North, North-West, Upper and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Anuradhapuram, Galle and Matara districts today (11).
He further informed in this regard
“Due to the northward movement of the sun, the sun will peak over the places like Vathalankundu, Madavachi, Koravapottana and Trincomalee at around 12.11 pm today.
Thunderstorm
Eastern and Uva provinces as well as Hambantota district may experience frequent rain or thundershowers. Many places in other parts of the country may experience rain or thundershowers after 1 pm.
Heavy rainfall of up to 100 mm is expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Upper and Southern provinces.
The public is advised to exercise caution in the event of strong winds and lightning strikes.
Offshore offshore regions from Trincomalee through Batticaloa to Hambantota are likely to receive frequent showers.
Wind at full speed
From Puttalam to Colombo, through Galle to Hambantota, many places in the maritime regions may experience rain or thundershowers during the evening or night.
Winds blowing from East direction or opposite direction at speed of 15 – 25 kmph over maritime regions.
The sea region from Puttalam to Mannar, Kangesanthurai to Trincomalee is likely to experience frequent gusts of up to 40 – 45 kmph.
In such cases, these sea regions will be somewhat turbulent,” he said.
