The weather is not good this Sunday. Today’s weather will be marked in particular by sometimes stormy rain on a New-Aquitaine-Grand-Est diagonal and by sustained winds. As a result, eight departments were placed early this Sunday morning on orange alert for various reasons linked to precipitation and wind. There were only four left at 10 p.m.

Charente-Maritime is the subject of raw orange vigilance, as are Gironde, Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Finally, Vendée, previously on orange alert for wave-submersion risks, has returned to yellow.

The continuous and sometimes stormy rains expected diagonally from the southwest to the northeast will sometimes lead to significant accumulations, particularly in Poitou-Charentes and surrounding areas. The southwest wind will also be marked in the north and northwest with 60 km/h in the interior and 70 to 80 km/h on the coasts.

Wind expected in the South-East

On the other hand, an episode of rain will set in in the South-East. Precipitation will occasionally affect the PACA region, and will become significant in the Ardèche and the Cévennes relief. However, they will not concern the plains of Languedoc-Roussillon.

Furthermore, the rest of Occitanie, the Northern Alps and the Jura, although sometimes under cloudy skies, should stay away from the rain. The south wind will be strong in the evening in the axis of the Rhône and Saône valleys with gusts of 60 to 80 km/h and sometimes up to 90 km/h in the Lyon region.

On Monday, these four departments will also be placed on orange flood alert: Gironde, Landes, Charente-Maritime and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Météo France specifies that the weather will be very rainy with “sometimes significant accumulations”, particularly on the eastern side of the country.

On Saturday, nine departments were already placed on orange vigilance. Several coastal towns found themselves flooded due to high tides and weather conditions.
