In the next few days, Italy will be hit by a strong autumnal disturbance, linked to a low pressure vortex, which will drastically change the weather forecast. The first signs of atmospheric failure are now being felt in the northern regions. Between Thursday and Friday, the weather forecast will worsen further, with strong winds crossing the entire Peninsula. The vortex, coming from Nordwill be accompanied by a drop in temperatures, making the air cooler and more unstable everywhere. On the Alpssnow is expected to fall already at altitudes around 1500 metres, an unusual occurrence for the season.
Rainfall will be widespread across much of the country. Thursday, the Northern Italyin particular Lombardy, Triveneto and Emilia Romagna, will see heavy rains, with possible extreme phenomena such as flooding. The bad weather will then move towards the Central Italywith persistent rains especially in the internal areas and along the Tyrrhenian coasts of Lazio. The Southern Italy will be affected by worsening weather conditions starting from Thursday evening and then especially on Friday, with even violent thunderstorms, while at Nord the weather will start to improve.
Snow is another important element of this phase. On the Alpsit will snow at medium altitudes, with possible snowfall up to 1300 meters. This is an absolutely noteworthy event for this period. The snowfall could last on the northern slopes of the Alps, offering winter landscapes.
Temperatures will drop sharply from Thursday across Italy. Nordthe maximums may not exceed the 15°C in the main cities, while at Central Italy they will be confirmed between 16°C e 18°Cboth in coastal and inland areas. In Sudthe drop will be less marked, with maximum temperatures however dropping to around 20-22°C in the areas most affected by the bad weather.
There will be a break over the weekend. Between Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th, the sky will be mostly clear or partly cloudy at Northern Italy and to the Central Italywhile at the Southern Italy Residual precipitation may still occur.
Daytime temperatures will be mild, ranging between 16°C e 20°Cbut during the night there will be significant temperature variations, especially in the valleys of the Northern Italy and in the mountainous areas of Central Italywith lows below 10°C.
