Weather: will it snow on Sunday in several regions of France?

by time news

The cold is here… the snow too! 10 departments have been placed on snow-ice yellow vigilance by Météo-France, for the day of Sunday. The departments of Puy-de-Dôme, Haute-Loire, Ardèche, Lozère, Cantal and Aveyron are thus concerned, but also further north, Eure-et-Loir, Orne, Sarthe and Mayenne.

In the morning for Sunday, Météo France forecasts rains, at times sustained and stormy which will extend from the Massif Central towards Hérault and Bouches-du-Rhône. It will snow from 1200 m then 800 m at the end of the day. These precipitations will shift slowly towards the east over the hours, they will concern the east of the Rhône valley in the afternoon then will evacuate the southern Alps and the Côte d’Azur the following night, the rain-snow limit located around 1400 m.

Snow in the morning

On the rest of the country, the day will take place under a mostly overcast sky, light rain, mixed with snow will be feared here and there. The rain-snow limit will generally be around 1200 m, 700 m at the end of the day in the northern Alps. In Corsica, the sky will be changing, alternating between clearings and cloudy periods releasing a few showers at times. If it were to actually come to snow in the west of the country, it would rather be in the morning, but it would be limited in places to “a few flakes”.

At daybreak this Sunday, the minimum temperatures will be between 2 and 6 degrees in the southeastern quarter of the country, around 0 to 3 on the Atlantic coasts, light frosts will be frequent in the interior. The maximum will range from 2 to 4 degrees from the North-East borders to 8 to 10 in Aquitaine, 10 to 12 in the South-East, 12 to 14 towards the Mediterranean, up to 16 in Corsica.
