There is no doubt that social networks are of fundamental importance for the development of digital businesses today. Along with its growth and changes in the business environment resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, social media has become an excellent way to interact with customers and promote business online.

Until a few years ago, an Internet business was synonymous with having a website, an online store or selling through a marketplace. But have these tools been surpassed by the advancement of social media? Apparently no. Maybe it’s exactly the opposite.

The most recent set of results from the GoDaddy Data Observatories 2023 has just been released. In addition to Brazil, the research was carried out in Colombia, Germany, India, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand and the United States. Brazil, for example, according to the study, is at the top of the world in the use of marketing automation systems in small businesses. On a global average of 57%, 69% of Brazilian entrepreneurs use email marketing generation tools, automatic metrics reports, etc.

The GoDaddy survey found that the majority of Brazilian small businesses plan to implement marketing activities for their website, including better positioning the company in search engines (68%), creating a responsive design for their website (64%), and monitoring traffic to your pages (62%). Advertising on social media platforms is in the plans of 78% of small business owners.

The survey also shows that 40% of small businesses in Brazil that do not yet have a business website plan to create one in the next three months, while 48% said they want to have their own website within a year. This highlights the importance of the small businesses surveyed in Brazil continuing to consider that having a website and their own online sales channel for their business is beneficial to the growth of their business.

In line with this, Brazilian respondents recognized the benefits of having a website, with many of them reporting that it increased the visibility of their business (62%), the possibility of better showcasing their products and services (61%), helping them establishing better collaboration (61%) and helping them attract new audiences (56%).

The survey results demonstrate that Brazilian entrepreneurs are looking for ways to keep up with technological developments and rely on digital marketing strategies to help their small businesses prosper. To that end, GoDaddy is dedicated to providing the tools and resources they need to succeed on their online journey with a suite of easy-to-use, affordable, and customer-supported products.

Looking beyond the percentages, it is clear that Brazilian entrepreneurs are always aware of new developments in digital marketing. At the same time as they use the resources offered by social networks, such as the opportunity to stay engaged with their customers, they give importance to having their own space on the Internet, such as a professional website and/or a digital store, to browse safely in the era of digital business.

The GoDaddy Data Observatory was led by specialist agency Advanis, focusing on small business owners, defined based on the number of people, which ranged from one (sole proprietorship) to up to 50 employees. A total of 4,682 entrepreneurs and small business owners were surveyed for this study, including 540 in Brazil.
