Tula Orange and the rest of the family return with the continuation of their story. The movie “Μy Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” (“Marriage in Greek 3”) is expected to be released in September 2023 with the promise of more culture clashes, lots of eutrapelas, and true love and Greek cuisine as the protagonists.

Audiences recently attending this year’s CinemaCon, one of the biggest events to promote upcoming films, had the opportunity to watch the first trailer for the third chapter of the Orange story. The story picks up many years after the first film and follows the family members in their search for some relaxing moments away from Chicago.

“A lot has happened since I got married. My father passed away and his last wish was for us to visit the village where he grew up in Greece and reconnect with our roots. So we will have a reunion.”

The short clip, which is not yet available to the general public, begins with the family packing up and traveling to Greece to meet friends and cousins (by blood and by blood) of Gus Portokalos. Along the way, there’s plenty of character skewering (though John Corbett’s Ian Miller is still a vegetarian), booze and romance to keep the relatives on their toes. “This is a reunion we’ll never forget,” Tula says in the trailer.

Apart from the protagonist, the Greek Canadian Nia Vardalos wrote the script and directed the film. Returning to the cast are Corbett, Louis Mandilor, Elena Kambouri, Maria Vakratsis and Andrea Martin.

The first film “Wedding in Greek” premiered in 2002 and became an instant commercial success grossing $368 million on a budget of $5 million. The sequel released in 2016 didn’t have the success of the first film, but the box office numbers were good: $90 million worldwide, on a budget of $18 million.

As Vardalos recently revealed, the third film is a tribute to actor Michael Constantine (Gus Orange), who died in August 2021. The film was shot – among other locations – in Corfu and Athens.
