Violence Plagues Baltimore Over the Weekend

BALTIMORE – Violence marred another weekend in Baltimore with at least six shootings in the city in the past three days. The shootings resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two who were killed in a domestic dispute.

The weekend’s incidents included a shooting inside Harbor East Cinemas, where shots were fired on Saturday night. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no suspects were taken into custody.

Baltimore resident Lauren Davis expressed her dismay, stating, “It’s a tragedy, whether it’s for the holiday season or it’s just a regular Tuesday.”

On Edmondson Avenue, a man was shot in the face at a bus stop and later died in the hospital. Additionally, two other men were injured in separate shootings on Saturday.

The violence continued into Sunday, with a domestic dispute turning deadly as two 28-year-old men were shot and killed inside a home in the 3600 block of Greenmount Avenue. Later that day, a 23-year-old man was shot in Southeast Baltimore but is expected to survive.

“We’re working to learn more information from police about these shootings,” said Jessica Albert, who joined the WJZ news team in September 2021.

The weekend’s surge in violence has left the community reeling and seeking answers as to how to address the ongoing issue of gun violence in Baltimore.
