Well-known restaurateur dies unexpectedly: “Fuxxxy” Markus Fuchs (39) is dead – an obituary

by time news

There is great sadness for restaurateur Markus Fuchs. He died on Sunday at the age of 40 – far too early.

SMALL CELL. “Fuxxxy” worked in the catering industry for more than 20 years. For years he was head chef and managing director of the “Cubus” restaurant in the Ars Electronica Center in Linz. After a year off due to burnout in 2018, he only did things that were good for him:

“If you love what you do, you’ll never have to work again.”

“If you love what you do, you will never have to work again,” was his motto. Since 2020 he has been thinking outside the box when it comes to cuisine. He was self-employed and offered cooking courses and catering. When it comes to private cooking, the Kleinzeller has combined many years of kitchen experience with a love of experimentation and “leases” himself out for wedding anniversaries or birthday parties and cooks fresh food for guests at home. “You should just have a good time while eating,” the father of one son used to say. As a professional chef, he has also taken on live cooking at trade fairs and given cooking courses. His products in jars, such as crazy nuts and pickled vegetables, as well as fresh juices, which can be purchased in many shops in the region, were particularly popular.

Professional chef in the background at “Silvia cooks”

Back in December he gave the readers of the BezirksRundSchau a simple Christmas menu to cook. He was one of the most important people for the cooking show “Silvia Cooks”, as Silvia Schneider herself emphasized: “He is our cooking professional behind the scenes. Fuxxxy works with each of our chefs in advance. Discuss the recipes and save our skin if everything goes wrong,” the presenter said in December 2021. “I would like to thank him from the bottom of my heart for his excellent work, precise expertise, warm lessons and great friendship,” Fuchs quotes Silvia Schneider on his website.

Voluntarily behind the stove

Whether it was about the commercial kitchen at the fire brigade youth camp or cooking pasta for the participants in the granite marathon – “Fuxxxy” was always there and at the “front line” behind the stove. In Linz’s old town, he was in charge when the Gastro-Allstars organized a benefit cooking for Ukraine in 2022. “We miss you.” – It wasn’t just his relatives who wrote this on his party slip – companions also expressed their condolences on social networks and showed their dismay over “Fuxxxy’s” death.

Farewell on Saturday, February 17th

The farewell will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 2 p.m. in the Kleinzell parish hall. “We commemorate and remember him on Friday, February 16th at 7:30 p.m. in the Kleinzell parish hall,” says the party slip. There is the opportunity to say goodbye to him in silence – on Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., in the Kleinzell funeral hall.

“Do not be sad”

The ceremonial urn burial will take place at a later date in the immediate family circle. The relatives ask that you refrain from donations of wreaths and flowers as well as expressions of condolence. “When you think of me, do not be sad. Better tell me about me and dare to laugh. “Leave me a space between you, just like I had in life” – this saying is intended to encourage those who are grieving: At the moment, however, the shock and sadness are deep.
