Civil society organizations such as Welthungerhilfe and its partner organizations work directly on site with people affected by hunger, for example in South Sudan, Syria, Yemen or Afghanistan. In order for their work to be as effective as possible, they need the fastest possible planning security and stable financing. We are therefore calling on the federal government to present a roadmap for adopting the 2024 budget.
The cuts in development cooperation and climate financing proposed by Federal Finance Minister Lindner damage Germany’s international responsibility. Credibility as a reliable and stable partner is at stake. The Federal Government must therefore stand by its international agreements now and in the future. Further cuts could have a negative impact on long-standing partnerships with countries in the Global South.
