Wembanyama responds but the Mets powerless against Roanne

More than thirty points and a new double-double for Victor Wembanyama but that’s not enough for Boulogne-Levallois at home against Roanne.

Despite a big performance from its French star Victor Wembanyama, Boulogne-Levallois fell at home against Roanne (102-84) on Friday during the 19th day of Elite.

The Metropolitans suffered their fifth defeat of the season in the league, the second at home, and could be joined in second place by Cholet who challenge Nancy on Saturday.

The 19-year-old nugget Victor Wembanyama nevertheless made an impressive copy (31 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks) to keep his people in a game dominated by the Chorale, the best attack in the championship.

Deprived among others of its leader Tremont Waters and its rear Hugo Besson, Boulogne-Levallois quickly fell behind (30-22 at the end of the first quarter) and lost a lot of ground after the break, until to be led by 19 points (69-50, 24th).

The Mets thought they were coming back at the start of the last quarter (74-66), but cracked against the address of the Roannes, whose five players exceeded ten points, in the wake of American back Ronald March (21 points).

Vincent Collet’s players no longer existed in the last ten minutes, like “Wemby”, author of only two points.

In the other match of the evening, the red lantern Fos-sur-Mer won their fifth success of the season in Blois (77-73) and returned to a victory for their opponent of the day.
