According to Šabík, the company evaluated the offers, of which six arrived in the tender, from 80 percent based on the price and 20 percent based on the length of the construction. According to him, the difference between the highest and lowest bid price was more than 250 million crowns. The construction period of 1,095 days, i.e. three years, was stated by all six entities in their offer, Šabík added.

Compared to the original state, they will be according to earlier information dormitories on the sides of the square and a promenade will be created in the middle. Workers will repair sidewalks and roads, plant greenery, repair the Muzeum subway station, and create an underground reservoir to collect rainwater. The city also plans to slow down the traffic of cars on the square, which will partially run along the tram tracks.

The track and in front of the main station

Prague is also planning to build another line that will lead from the National Museum past the main station to Bolzanova Street. Its construction is part of an architectural competition in which the city, together with the Railway Administration, is now choosing the form of reconstruction of the new check-in hall and the surroundings of the main station. The results should be known around the middle of next year.

The trams between the upper and lower parts of Wenceslas Square stopped running in December 1980.
