With 4 million daily users, a route of 226 kilometers, 195 stations and 12 service lines that connect the Mexico City from end to end, the Mass Transportation System (STC) Metro celebrates 55 years of history.
Considered as the backbone From the country’s capital, this transport was inaugurated on September 4, 1969 with the opening of Line 1 (Pantitlán-Observatorio), which at that time ran from Zaragoza to Chapultepecwith 16 stations and 12.6 kilometers of tracks.

One of the flagship projects that the current administration highlights is Metro Energy, with the new electrical substation that supplies the lines 1,2 and 3which are the longest-running in the network and have 65 stations, which are used by an average of 2 million people a day.
This facility reached an investment of more than 5 million 200 thousand pesos and guarantees a secure supply of electricity for the next 50 years.
With an approximate cost of 500 million pesosinaugurated the new Central Control Post 1 at C5one more of the strategic projects for the operation of lines 1 to 6.
These works allowed the technological transition to a modern system for the regulation and control of train traffic, more efficient and safe.
A key work is the modernization of Line 1 and with a budget of 37 billion pesos, the change was made track, ballast, lighting, toll system and the acquisition of 29 new trains.
As well as the rehabilitation of the San Lázaro Oceanía section on Line B and the works of releveling in the Line 9.
The toll system was modernized, so the Integrated Mobility (MI) card is the only means of entering the Metro.
