Coimbatore: A Coimbatore school student won three medals at the West Asian Youth Chess Championship in the Maldives. The West Asian Youth Chess Tournament was held in the Maldives on behalf of the Maldives Chess Federation. More than 100 competitors from Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives took part in the event. In the competition, in the classic category, in nine rounds, he finished third with 6.5 points. Similarly, he took six points in the ‘Rapid’ round and four points in the Blitz round and won two gold medals. In the classic round of the tournament, Harshat finished third and won his first International Masters title.
