West Bank: Clashes in Jenin and two operations against settlers

by times news cr

The large-scale Israeli operation continues for the fourth consecutive day in the West Bank, which has led to the killing of 20 Palestinians in three days, coinciding with the announcement by the Hamas movement, in a statement today, Saturday, that it is engaged in violent clashes with Israeli forces west of Jenin, which has been subjected to several raids and clashes in recent days.

Palestinian security sources reported that the Israeli army arrested two citizens from the city of Hebron in the West Bank today, Saturday.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) quoted the sources as saying: “The occupation forces closed the entrances to Hebron and its towns with iron gates and cement blocks, including the northern entrance to Hebron, Ras al-Joura, the entrance to Farsh al-Hawa to the west, the southern entrance to al-Haraiq, in addition to the entrances to al-Dhahiriya, al-Samou and Dura to the south, the entrances to al-Fawar and al-Arroub camps, and side roads.”

For its part, Hamas confirmed today, Saturday, that “the heroic double operation that took place last night near Gush Etzion and the Karmi Tzur settlement north of Hebron in the West Bank is a clear message that the resistance will remain striking, extended and continuous as long as the brutal aggression of the occupation continues and it targets our people and our land.”

Hours earlier, a car explosion in the Gush Etzion settlement south of Bethlehem in the West Bank injured 6 settlers and killed at least one Palestinian. According to Israeli media, the commander of the Gush Etzion Brigade in the Israeli army was among the injured.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the explosion occurred at the Bloc intersection inside a car at the gas station. It added that security forces are present at the scene to determine the details of the explosion.

The Israeli Army Radio explained that the car explosion in Gush Etzion was to lure the forces, and when they arrived, a gunman opened fire on them.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian gunman infiltrated the Karmi Tzur settlement south of Bethlehem, where he ran over the settlement guard and began shooting and clashing with Israeli security forces. The perpetrator was announced killed after the clash with him.

Local media reported that the operation resulted in the injury of 3 settlers, including the guard.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that settlers living in Karmi Tzur near Hebron were asked to stay home for fear of additional gunmen.

The Israeli military said Saturday its forces killed two people in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank, after one infiltrated an Israeli settlement and another opened fire on soldiers after his car exploded. The Israeli ambulance service said two men were wounded by gunfire in the incidents, but it did not identify them.

“Terrorists tried to run over a security guard at the entrance to the Karmei Tzur settlement a short while ago and infiltrated the settlement,” the army said.

He added that the soldiers who arrived at the scene killed one of the attackers who shot them, and are searching for others.
