West Bank receives first official Saudi delegation in 30 years

A delegation of Saudi Arabian authorities, led by Nayef al Sudairi, recently appointed ambassador of the kingdom to the Palestinian Territories, arrived this Tuesday in Jericho, in the occupied West Bank, the city’s acting governor, Yusra Sweiti, told AFP.

This is the first visit by an official Saudi delegation to the West Bank since the 1993 Israeli-Palestinian Oslo peace accords, which allowed for the creation of the Palestinian Authority.

Al Sudairi is a non-resident ambassador and is based in Amman, the capital of neighboring Jordan. He must present his credentials to the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas.
