New Delhi: The Kolkata High Court has filed a voluntary case in connection with the killing of eight people in West Bengal’s Birbhum district following the killing of Gram Panchayat vice-president and Trinamool Congress leader Badu Sheikh. The court heard the case and asked the state government to install CCTV cameras at the scene and collect evidence in the presence of the district judge. He also directed the Central Forensic Laboratory to go to the spot and collect the evidence. Investigators have been directed to produce all the information related to the case in the court by 2 pm today. Meanwhile, 22 people have been arrested so far in connection with the violence. It is learned that tensions are still high at the spot. Meanwhile, BJP MPs in West Bengal met Union Minister Amit Shah in person and demanded a probe by a central agency into the incident.

The incident will be dealt with fairly. Such churches have existed in Gujarat and Rajasthan before. The attacks in Birbhum district will not be justified. The guilty will be punished accordingly.
