Granada: West Indies Test series against England. The Windies won by 10 wickets at the St. George’s National Cricket Stadium in Granada. The hosts won the series 1-0. The first three matches were drawn. Score: England 2014 & 120, West Indies 298 & 28. Man of the match was wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua da Silva, who scored a century in the first innings. Vides captain Craig Broadweight became the star of the series. With the series defeat, Joe Root was likely to lose the England captaincy.
The Windies were bowled out for 120 in the second innings and needed just 28 runs to win. The Windies won without losing a single wicket. Broadweight (20) and John Campbell (6) were not out. Earlier, Kyle Myers’ five-wicket haul reduced England to 120. Kemar Roach took two wickets.
Only Alex Lees (31), Johnny Bairstow (22) and Chris Vokes (19) saw double figures. Zack Crowley (8), Joe Root (5), Daniel Lawrence (0), Ben Stotoks (4), Ben Fox (2), Craig Overton (1) and Jack Leach (4) are the other outfielders. Saqib Mahmood (3) was not out.
England had a 93-run lead against 204 in the first innings. Joshua, who was unbeaten on 100, gave the team the lead. John Campbell (35), Kyle Myers (28), Alsari Joseph (28) and Roach (25) also put in better performances. Chris Vokes took three wickets for England.
Earlier, England crossed the 200 mark in the first innings on the strength of the Waltons. Leach (41) and Saqib (49) put on 90 for the final wicket. At one point, England were 114 for nine. Lees (31), Chris Vokes (25) and Overton (14) were the other players to see the double.
