Pacer Kemar Roach could not play in the Test series against England. He finally returned to the West Indies Test team for the series against South Africa after recovering from injury. Another pacer and vice-captain Alzari Joseph has been rested in his comeback series.

West Indies will play a two-match Test series at home against South Africa. Cricket West Indies announced the 15-member squad for the series on Friday (August 2). Keeper-batsman Joshua Da Silva will act as vice-captain in Jose Joseph’s absence.

Spinning all-rounder Kevin Sinclair has been dropped from this series. In the England series, he was hit by Mark Wood’s ball and broke his left arm. Besides, off-spinner Brian Charles has come as a new face in the team. Pace bowling all-rounder Justin Greaves and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican are back.

West Indies are at the bottom of the table having won just one of seven matches in the current cycle of the Test Championship. The series against South Africa at home is therefore important for them. Craig Brathwaite’s team has a chance to climb up the table by winning this series.

The first Test will begin next Wednesday in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Second Test in Providence, Guyana from August 15.

West Indies Squad: Craig Brathwaite (captain), Joshua da Silva (vice-captain), Alik Athanez, Casey Carty, Brian Charles, Justin Greaves, Jason Holder, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlakh, Shamar Joseph, Mikael Lewis, Gudakesh Moti, Kemar Roach, Jayden Sills , Jomel Warrican.
