jpnn.com – The Chairman of the West Sumatra Regional Election Commission (KPUD Sumbar) Surya Efitrimen is optimistic that the implementation of the simultaneous regional elections in Tanah Minang will run smoothly even though there are areas that have one candidate.

He said that this belief was because the West Sumatra KPUD in the 2024 election could carry out the political contest smoothly.

“Based on the experience of the 2024 Election, then there was a PSU (Revote), it went smoothly,” Surya told reporters, Monday (9/9).

However, Surya said that the contesting candidates already understand the rules when they have objections to the regional election results.

“If there are legal issues, the candidates must orderly use the legal channels provided,” he said.

He also appealed to voters to be active and be present at local polling stations to vote for their respective candidates, whether for regent, mayor or governor.

“We hope for high participation from voters so that the legitimacy of the election results in West Sumatra, both at the provincial, district and city levels, remains high,” said Surya.

Regarding Dharmasraya district which only has one candidate pair, Surya said that this was not a problem and the provisions only referred to the PKPU.

The Head of the West Sumatra KPUD, Surya Efitrimen, felt that there was no problem when a political contest in a Minang region only produced one candidate.
