The BMW Points initiative is about software available for all types of smartphones containing the minimum requirements for installation on the device. What’s more, driving in electric mode if you have a plug-in hybrid (the only vehicles with which it is available) accumulates points that are later exchanged for prizes such as the vehicle’s energy consumption.

And the operation is very simple. First you will have to register in BMW Points through My BMW App, it also has instructions for its correct installation and activation. When activated, the BMW PHEV vehicle will automatically detect when it is within an eDrive zone and/or low emission zone and will switch to ELECTRIC driving mode.

In relation to the system accumulation of points, there are 3 different modes.

Accumulate 1 point for each kilometer of electric circulation and 2 points per kilometer if you circulate electrically in an eDrive zone; accumulate 20 points by charging the vehicle for a minimum of 15 minutes; or accumulate 500 points by charging the vehicle 20 times a month for a minimum of 15 minutes. This monthly challenge is called the Frequent Charger.

Newly accumulated points will appear as ‘pending’ and will be available at the start of the following month. You can consult and check the activities, points and current status of the account at any time. In relation to the expiration date, the accumulated points cease to have value and disappear 18 months (or more) after having obtained them. In addition, the app has a customer service that is available to answer any related questions from Monday to Saturday.
