Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has released the rules for providing work on compassionate grounds.

In case of death while in government service, ill health and retirement after less than five years of service, their heirs are given government service on compassionate basis.

The Labor Welfare Department has issued new regulations for this. Its details:

Retirees, contract daily wage workers and non-scheduled employees shall not be treated as Government servants.

A Government servant, his lawfully wedded spouse, his son, daughter or adopted son or daughter shall be considered as his family.

If not married, his father, mother, brother or sister shall be considered family. In case of widow and divorcee, their son, daughter or adopted son, daughter shall be considered as family.

Should not have completed 50 years if spouse or parent of deceased Government servant. If son, daughter, brother, sister, should not have completed 40 years.

The application must be made within three years of the death of the Government servant. Similarly, for medical reasons, even if retired within five years of service, application must be made within three years.

For the post you are applying for, you should have the appropriate educational qualification. In applications for compassionate employment, priority will be given on the basis of the date of death of the Government servant.
