Present, Manufacturer “Turning Point” The information has terminated the contract, requiring actress Thuy Anh to pay the violation fine, compensation for damages, and reimbursement within 7 days with a total amount of more than 20 billion VND. If the above deadline is exceeded, the company will transfer the case to the competent authority for settlement.
Regarding the above incident, lawyer Nguyen Manh Thuat, Southeast Asia Law Firm (Hanoi Bar Association) gave his opinion from a legal perspective.
Lawyer Nguyen Manh Thuat commented: “Hoa Tho Media Joint Stock Company unilaterally terminated the contract and requested Actress Thuy Anh compensation Damages are legally based and in accordance with the agreement of the parties.
Regarding the behavior of the Facebook account “Chau Vu Quynh Nguyen” posting false information and images, using derogatory and insulting words and having an attitude of challenging the law with the aim of inciting the social community. The above behavior caused many people to misunderstand, so there were discriminatory and insulting words, seriously affecting the reputation and honor of Ms. Thuy and Hoa Tho Company.
The subjective consciousness of the poster is intentional, clearly aiming to cause damage to a specific subject (name of Ms. Thuy, Hoa Tho Company, image, message of related person).
The consequences of this behavior are the number of people interacting with the article (liking, sharing, commenting, reposting the article) and the level of damage to Ms. Thuy’s property and reputation, and the Company’s reputation (including the film project).
The behavior of the Facebook account owner “Chau Vu Quynh Nguyen” and the consequences are very serious, showing signs of violating Article 331 of the Penal Code:
“Article 331. Crime of taking advantage of democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
1. Anyone who abuses the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of belief, religion, freedom of assembly, association and other democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals shall be subject to a warning, non-custodial reform for up to 03 years or imprisonment from 06 months to 03 years.
2. Committing a crime that negatively affects social security, order and safety shall be punishable by imprisonment from 02 to 07 years”.
Previously, on August 18, an account named Chau Vu Quynh Nguyen, believed to be a close friend of actress Thuy Anh, posted an article expressing his indignation with the content of the film crew Buoc Chuoc “letting the actress get stitches herself, then rushing out to sue” after Thuy Anh was injured during filming. In this post, the account owner also mentioned Thuy Anh’s name and tagged Thuy Anh’s Facebook and the actress also set the tagging mode to public on Facebook for many days before removing it. Many people liked, shared, and commented. As of August 23, 2024, the post had 29,000 likes, more than 500 comments, and 500 shares.
The article reads: “I was the person who drove Thuy Anh to get 6 stitches on her face at 7am. Thuy Anh was accidentally hit in the face by a co-star who threw a phone at her, causing a long tear during a scene in a film produced by your company. Instead of taking responsibility for this accident, you let the actress get stitches herself, then rushed out to sue and take each other to court if she was not present in Phu Yen by 9am on August 20 to continue filming, instead of in the afternoon?”

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy affirmed that all the above information is fabricated, untrue, many words have signs of insulting, defaming, and defaming her honor and dignity as well as the entire film crew. According to Ms. Thuy, the post also used information and images that are confidential information as stipulated in the contract signed with actress Thuy Anh before.
Ms. Thanh Thuy said that the actress had an accident on August 12 because she stood in the wrong position compared to the initial rehearsals. On August 17, the company asked actress Thuy Anh to return to the film crew on the morning of August 20 to complete the unfinished scenes. The filming schedule for August 20 was entirely based on the time Thuy Anh discussed with her assistant.
“I discussed with Thuy Anh in good faith, asking Thuy Anh to contact Chau Vu Quynh Nguyen to remove the post and post a correction on her personal page. However, Thuy Anh said she could not contact the above account. On the other hand, Chau Vu Quynh Nguyen’s Facebook still kept the post intact,” said Ms. Thanh Thuy.
Therefore, with serious violations of contractual obligations and agreements causing particularly large damages, the producer of “Turnover” decided to terminate the contract with actress Thuy Anh and request compensation for damages.
As for actress Thuy Anh, she said that currently all statements will be handled by her lawyer.
