BJP retains Tripura: Tripura is the most watched state in the 3 state elections of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. This is due to the fact that when the BJP ruled here with a single majority, the CPM was the strongest opposition party. Like the last election, the BJP contested the election in alliance with IPFT. At the same time, in a dramatic twist, the CPM formed an alliance with the Congress party and faced this election. Besides, a new party called Dibra Modha also attracted attention in the field.
In this case, BJP is going to form the government again after winning with a majority of 33 seats. The much-anticipated CPM-Congress alliance is poised to win only 14 seats. The Dibra Moda party, which created a new wave in the elections, has won 13 seats. Compared to the previous election, the BJP alliance will win less in 11 seats this time.
The BJP, which has a majority, issued an action announcement after the election results. It was a declaration of readiness to accept all other demands of Dibra Moda except the ‘Greater Dibraland’ demand. Tripura BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty made the announcement in a bid to garner support from the party. While the tribal areas in Tripura were considered CPM strongholds, the Dibra Moda party has demolished it.
BJP alliance again in Nagaland: NDP-BJP alliance to form government again in Nagaland. Here NDP contested in 40 constituencies and BJP in 20 constituencies. In this, the National Democratic Progressive Party has won 25 constituencies and the BJP has won 12 constituencies. As this alliance has captured a total of 37 seats, they are set to form the government again. National Democratic Progressive Party (NDP) leader Nebue Rio is back as Chief Minister. Apart from these two parties, the absence of other strong parties here has been a great strength for both of them.
Congress loses ground in Meghalaya: In Meghalaya, the ruling party National People’s Party is poised to win 26 seats. However, as the majority needs 5 more seats, the National People’s Party is likely to form a coalition government. Principal Conrad K. Sangma’s supporters are confident that he will become the chief minister again.
The Congress, which was the strongest party in the state, lost power in the last election. This time the field has also been lost. Congress, which was the main opposition party after winning 21 constituencies in the last election, has won only 5 constituencies this time. As a result, it has also lost its status as the main opposition party. At the same time, BJP won 2 constituencies in the last election and this time also won 2 constituencies.
With parliamentary elections coming up next year, the results of these 3 state elections held this year were seen as very important. These elections were also held after Rahul Gandhi completed the Indian Unity Yatra. So, if the BJP suffered a setback in these elections, it would have been seen as a victory for the opposition.
