After Joe Biden gave up his presidential candidacy, Kamala Harris is considered the Democrats’ best option. George Clooney agrees.
And lo and behold: Harris has the Hollywood star’s blessing. George Clooney is supporting the 59-year-old in the election campaign, saying in an article in the US media “Entertainment Weekly”: “We look forward to supporting Vice President Harris to the best of our ability in her historic task.”
At the same time, prominent Democrat supporter Joe Biden praised: “President Biden has shown what true leadership means. He has saved democracy again.” Biden announced last Sunday that he would not run for president again. Prior to that, criticism of the 81-year-old’s renewed candidacy had become increasingly louder – including from Clooney himself.
In a guest article for the New York Times, he called for Biden to withdraw from the election campaign. In it, he emphasized how much he valued Biden: “I consider him a friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his morals.” But there is one battle that Biden cannot win and that is a battle against time. The decisive factor for his opinion piece was Biden’s disastrous performance in the TV debate against Donald Trump.
After Biden’s withdrawal, it is considered likely that Kamala Harris will run for the presidency for the Democrats. In addition to Clooney, numerous celebrities have already pledged their support. For example, actress Jamie Lee Curtis wrote on Instagram: “I support Joe Biden and his decision to step down and support Kamala Harris unconditionally.” Read more about it here.

A lot can still happen before the election on November 5th and first Harris must be officially nominated by the Democrats. This is planned for mid-August. Trump has already been confirmed as the Republican candidate. The 78-year-old also has prominent supporters: including stars such as Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock.
