Already China, the Broad Group company built a ten-story residential building in just 28 hours. The aesthetics of the building draws attention, as it is similar to Lego toys.
To get the project off the ground and meet the demand for housing in China, Broad Group used prefabricated materials. Even the walls are previously produced concrete pieces, which, throughout the construction of the building, are connected to each other.

The Chinese construction company lifted each part with cranes, to later complete them with wiring and finishing touches, such as coatings.

The technique used by the Broad Group is also common in Brazil, despite the bureaucratic obstacles to applying it. Report published in Issue 176 of the magazine West shows in detail how Brazilian laws prevent companies from operating efficiently in the construction sector.
Quality manager in constructions similar to those observed in China, the Brazilian Flávio Vicente do Nascimento, 42 years old, has been working in the field since 2001.

“Brazilian companies use this technique mainly in industrial, commercial and warehouse works”, explained Nascimento. “Brazil has technology, inputs and labor that allow for construction as fast as the Chinese one. Perhaps the lack of investments and incentives make this practice unfeasible.”
In 2010, the quality manager worked on the construction of a tunnel on the coast of São Paulo. As in China, Brazilian contractors use heavy machinery and carry out complete operations. The intent: to increase productivity.

“Assembling the parts is relatively quick,” said Nascimento. “But it requires a lot of attention, due to the continuous work of cranes and large and heavy parts. To speed things up, it is common to carry out the complete steps, which involve spinning and coating. This generates a great time gain.”
