Police have arrested and are investigating an auto driver who was caught in the act of colliding with an assistant inspector during a vehicle check.
Bonraj, a law and order assistant inspector at the Chennai Nandambakkam police station, was involved in a vehicle check on the Mount-Poonamallee road in Nandambakkam on the night of the 3rd. When he tried to stop an oncoming car, the speeding car knocked down Assistant Inspector Bonraj and drove off without stopping. Assistant Inspector Bonraj, who sustained injuries to his arm, neck and head in the auto collision, was treated at a nearby private hospital and returned home.

In this case, Assistant Inspector Ponraj had difficulty in locating the vehicle number of the car that collided with it.
Sudarshan, a 65 – year – old man living in an apartment on the first main road in Porur’s Lakshmi Nagar extension, was the one who did not drive the car. On that basis the old man kept Sudarshan at his house and arrested him.
