What happened to the famous country that borrowed from China! It is a pity to be stuck in a predicament

by time news

Uganda, which has borrowed from China, is struggling to repay the loan, leaving China with international flights.

Uganda, in eastern Africa, borrowed $ 207 million from China in 2015. Assets, including the Entebbe Airport in Uganda, were mortgaged to China in exchange for the loan.

Uganda, currently in dire poverty, is struggling to repay its debt. The loan agreement stated that China could take over Entebbe Airport if it could not repay the loan.

The Ugandan government has been in talks with China to remove that provision in the agreement. But China has reportedly refused to accept it.

Thus, Uganda’s only international airport is said to be more likely to be taken over by China.

Uganda is unable to seek the assistance of other international organizations due to the lack of any international protection in the loan agreement.

Also, when a spokesman for Uganda’s Civil Aviation Authority asked the Chinese director general for African affairs about this, he reportedly denied the information outright.
