Mexican Super Peso Plummets on “Black Monday” and Reaches 20 Pesos per Dollar
On Monday, August 5th, the exchange rate collapsed the Mexican Super Peso that arrived at 20.0286 pesos per dollar, dealing a blow to the national currency.
This is due to the “Black Monday” event, where the stock markets of Japan and Europe registered a fall that also affected other currencies such as the euro and the dollar.
The Mexican Super Peso reported a fall to 20 pesos per dollar at 4:24 hours, UTC, and at 13:27 hours, that is, at 7:27 hours, local time in Mexico City. The currency managed to reach 19.65 pesos per dollar.
This value was even higher than the one recorded on Sunday, August 4, when it exceeded 19.50.
However, by August 8, the dollar reached 18,8722 pesos, representing its best value since March 2022.
