Kannan lives in Kolakkanantham village in Perambalur district. He has a wife named Vijayalakshmi (55). They have a son named Suresh and a daughter-in-law named Padmavati. On the 27th, the four people namely Kannan, Vijayalakshmi, Suresh and Padmavathi drove the cows to the forest to graze. At noon, Suresh and Padmavati came home to eat. After this, Suresh was shocked to see his mother lying unconscious with bloody wounds. He was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
There Vijayalakshmi died miserably without treatment. On the back of Vijayalakshmi’s head there were marks of beating with iron weapons. His chains and shackles were not removed. So it is certain that Vijayalakshmi was not murdered for the jewel. When the prosecuting police interrogated Kannan, he said that at the time his wife was attacked, he was grazing cows in another nearby forest. The police are still investigating the matter.
