New Delhi: The government has launched two new platforms to deal with cyber crime and spam calls. The name of the first platform is Chakshu. It enables people to report suspicious messages, numbers and phishing attempts. The second is the Digital Intelligence Platform. It facilitates banks, social media platforms and other organizations to exchange information about cyber criminals. The government is confident that both these platforms will help in preventing fraud. This will make it easier to arrest cyber criminals. They have already successfully prevented frauds of more than Rs 1,000 crore. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Monday launched the digital intelligence platform and Chakshu as part of the Sanchar Sathi portal. It was unveiled in May last year.

How will eyes be beneficial?

Chakshu can be used to report suspected fraudulent communications. Through this, users can report about numbers, messages and phishing attempts. The Digital Intelligence Platform, on the other hand, is an inter-agency effort to enable sharing of cybercriminal data among banks, social media platforms and wallet operators.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that data in case of suspected fraud will be shared with all stakeholders in near real time. Earlier, law enforcement, banks and financial service providers were asked to report fraudulent numbers. But, he did it personally.

Helped in preventing fraud

Vaishnav said that DIP is an integrated platform to report these frauds immediately. This is an update to the system that was launched last May. These two platforms will significantly improve the speed at which cyber fraud can be detected.

He said fraud worth an estimated Rs 1,008 crore has been stopped on all such platforms. DoT had launched the Sanchar Sathi platform in May 2023. “We have also effectively controlled fake international calls, which had become a menace in recent times,” Vaishnav said.
