The attention of the state apparatus is focused on improving the vital functions of the state according to what Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during his opening remarks at cabinet, making special reference to the acceleration of ASEP appointments and procedures.
“We have already had the first substantial meeting with the Ministry of the Interior on the issue that I know you are all concerned about, which is none other than the acceleration of appointments” he said typically and emphasized the historical pathologies that still prevent it. The implementation of the reforms is now known, so that they will not be seen directly by the citizen in the end.
In this context, the Minister and the Deputy Minister of the Interior will propose a series of interventions aimed at removing such obstacles. Basically, that is, phenomena that cause a person to be delayed in accepting his duties in the State, or even that he does not appear when the time comes for his official recruitment.
It is recalled that the new bill which is expected to come before Parliament will provide for recruitment in 6 months immediately after the announcement ASEP and expedited procedures.
Examples of interventions
According to the indicative examples of interventions given by the Prime Minister:
- Candidates will state from the start the particular position they are interested in, so that they do not reject it later.
- It will be possible to check vouchers digitally, through internal cross-checks and with the support of the equally competent Ministry, which is responsible for digital reforms.
- Anyone interested will be able to do their paperwork and pass the relevant tests, regardless of whether a relevant competition is taking place at the time.
“These are important steps in the modernization of ASEP procedures. I emphasize that in this way we are supporting the Supreme Staff Selection Board, which I think has proven over the years that it can guarantee the integrity of the procedures.
Our aim now, however, is to speed up the relevant procedures and in that direction the initiatives proposed by the Ministry will be transferred”, he said typically.
Digitization of supporting documents
Digitization of candidate support documents appears to be a central pillar of the changes and will be automatically downloaded through ASEP’s electronic interface with agencies.
Qualifications and confirmation details such as degrees, years of insurance, certificate of multiple children, etc. they will be removed from services such as Ptyxia.gov.gr and Taxisnet, which are updated immediately, limiting the checks carried out by ASEP and helping to reduce the time to examine applications.
It is hereby assumed that the interoperability of ASEP with state agencies involved in recruitment processes in the public sector will be developed.
In this way, it is hoped that the number of protests will be significantly reduced, an extremely time-consuming process, which causes many months of delays in recruitment. When this reform is implemented, there will be no doubt about the supporting documents submitted by each candidate, as they will have a gov.gr certificate. The extent of the problem, as mentioned by the president of ASEP, is an indication that the independent authority gives judgment in the last few months on 6,300 teacher protests regarding the classification of 150,000 general education teachers.
