It has been reported that AIADMK senior executives are appeasing coordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy as the single leadership controversy has erupted.
AIADMK senior executives have been taking turns visiting the OPS-EPS homes since Sunday (June 19) morning. A few former ministers speaking to reporters also hinted that action would soon be great, as the majority wanted a single leadership. A few party executives also spoke openly about who his support was for.
Major events that took place in the Atrium today
- Senior executives Senkottaiyan and Thambidurai first held talks at the office house and then went to the EPS house. They are said to have appeased both OBS-EPS.
- Former minister Sivapathy said the support of the youth in the party was fully for the EPS. He also said that since many in the party wanted a single leadership, it would be better for the OPS to accept it.
- Speaking to reporters at the OPS home, some youth volunteers said it was wrong to say that members of the youth team were on the EPS side. Krishnamurthy, a member of the youth team, said that he was in consultation with OBS legal experts and that only those who were looking for profit had gone to the EPS home and other youths were with the OBS.
- OBS supporters have indirectly accused the OPS of publishing full-page advertisements in newspapers that the AIADMK had embraced defeat in the 2021 assembly elections because it had not nominated Jayalalithaa as the star of hope.
- Some of the officials from Theni district, the home district of the office, came to the EPS house and expressed their support. However, when asked by reporters, OBS supporters at the OPS house said that only those who had been expelled from the party in Theni district came to the EPS house.
- Inbathurai, a former AIADMK lawyer, said there was room in the law to bring in a single leader in the AIADMK and that the general body had the supreme power to elect that leader. And the General Committee to make the necessary laws to guide the party. The law does not say that the co-ordinator cannot change the co-ordinator before the end of the five-year term. He said the change was likely to be made through the powers of the general body using the legal provisions of the corporation and that the general body had the right to do so.
- OS Maniyan, a senior executive and former minister, said it was the imperative of the times to have a single leadership. The vast majority said what they wanted was monopoly. He said the general body would decide on the form of that single leadership and who would be responsible.
- Former AIADMK spokesperson and expelled from the party, Pukahendi met the OBC at his residence. Speaking to reporters, Pukahendi criticized EPS for being a dictator both within the party and during the AIADMK regime.
- Many of those expelled from the party, like Pukahendi, have come to the homes of the two leaders as OPS-EPS. If expelled persons are to be reinstated in the party, it is now possible for them to sign and join the OBS-EPS.
- Preparations for the AIADMK general body meeting on June 23 are in full swing at a private hall in Vanakaram. Work is underway to set up decorations and colored lights.
