The ex Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonarotogether with his former aide-de-camp, Mauro Cid, He was accused of money laundering by the Brazilian Federal Police.
Both former officials were accused of the alleged attempt to misappropriate some Jewels valued at millions of pesos which were donated by Saudi Arabia.

Jair Bolsonaro has been under investigation since March 2023 by elements of the Federal Police
The Federal Police opened an investigation file in March 2023 against Jair Bolsonaro, after a local newspaper revealed that the former president had in his possession a jewelry kit which was gifted to him by Saudi Arabia.
The jewels were detained at customs at Guarulhos airport (SP) because they had not been declared despite having been transported in the luggage of an advisor to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
To try to recover the objects before Jair Bolsonaro leaves the PresidencyMauricio Cid mobilized his team to search for the donated objects and soon an operation was launched to recover items sold abroad.
During the investigation, police gathered evidence that some of these gifts, including watches, cufflinks, rosaries, sculptures and rings, were stolen from Brazil during official missions and then sold in stores in the United States.
