Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has denied rumors circulating about instant noodles that they cause cancer, because they contain E-621.

She explained, through her official account on the Twitter site, that monosodium glutamate, which is symbolized by E-621, is one of the food additives allowed to be used according to the Saudi technical regulation.

It is considered a flavor enhancer in foods.

Scientific evidence has not proven its relationship to cancer, or serious negative effects if taken as a food additive.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, according to the official website of the World Health Organization (WHO).

This disease killed nearly 10 million people in 2020.

And the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population shared on Twitter a list of foods that people should stay away from because they cause the proliferation of cancer cells in the body.

Foods that cause cancer cells to multiply in the body:

  • Foods with high fat content
  • fried foods
  • Preserved and colored materials
  • Processed meat
