Yangon: More than 100 people were missing after a landslide this morning (Dec. 22) at a greenstone mine in northern Myanmar’s Kutch province bordering China. One of them has died.

The greenstone quarry is located in the Bagand area of ​​Kutch province. Today, as usual, more than a hundred workers were employed at the mine. Suddenly the soil collapsed and fell into the tunnel and closed.

It is feared that up to 100 people may have been trapped in the mine in the crash. There, rescue workers rushed 25 people to the hospital. They have confirmed that one person has died. More than 200 people are actively involved in rescuing others. Meanwhile, a local newspaper reported that up to 20 people had been killed.

Accidents at mines in Myanmar are routinely fatal each year. In this green gem mine, which is heavily exported to China, employees are employed at low wages.
