On Friday, August 11, an armed attack was recorded at kilometer 203 of the route to the Atlantic, in the Quiriguá village, Los Amates, Izabal. The victims were traveling by vehicle, reported the National Civil Police (PNC).
Two people died and one was injured in the mentioned place.
One of the victims was identified as Dorian Hasan Loyo Sagastume, 25 years old. with passport No. G263855.
The person suffered two gunshot wounds to the left shoulder, back, and behind the left ear. According to the PNC report, the body had a tattoo of a lion’s face on the shoulder area on the left side and another in the shape of a feather on the left forearm.
The other victim is Cristian Bladimir Nataren, 21, who suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of the skull. The PNC added that the victim had a crown-shaped tattoo on his left forearm.
The injured person was identified as José Miguel Rojas Valle, 31, originally from the municipality of Nueva Arcadia in the department of Copán, Honduras.

At the crime scene, investigators located seven firearm casings of unknown caliber, the vehicle in which the victims were driving.

According to the preliminary investigation by the PNC, based on an interview with a relative of one of the victims, Loyo Sagastume left his residence at approximately 4:00 p.m., accompanied by Cristian Bladimir Nataren and possibly in the area of the village. Cristina, Los Amates, Izabal, passed through the other person who was injured in the event.
Supposedly, the three of them were going aboard the truck to count the livestock on a piece of land belonging to Dorian Hasan Loyo Sagastume, in the village of Chapulquito, Los Amates.
According to the PNC, the motive for the event was a settling of scores -territory dispute- and did not specify further details.
According to the police report, unknown persons, possibly for several days, controlled their victim and at the moment of having him in sight they committed the act, taking advantage of the fact that the place is desolate. In addition, due to the time the attack took place, it is presumed that the road is little traveled by people on foot.

The PNC’s hypothesis is that it was possibly because the victim, approximately three years ago, bought a piece of land in the area of the Chapulquito village, a place where organized crime groups possibly predominate.
