The General Health Council (CSG) of the Government of Mexico, published the update of the Hemophilia Technical Protocol. This details the interventions and treatments associated with this disease that causes expenses classified as catastrophic. It is an update that includes, for the first time, progress towards universal coverage.

It is a condition considered as a rare or low prevalence diseasesince it is caused by a genetic mutation in which the mother is the carrier of the disease and inherits it only to boys and never to girls.
In Mexico, there is an official record of 5,886 people with this disease in the country, according to data from the Hemophilia Federation in the Mexican Republic AC. Of this number of people, around 33 percent are people without social security, who are cared for in public institutions and who will be the main benefactors of this new protocol.
