what is the “Terminator” armored vehicle deployed by Russia in the Donbass?

by time news

This very modern infantry fighting vehicle is intended to protect Russian tanks, especially in urban combat.

The new armored vehicle engaged by the Russian army in the Donbass is not yet quite a killer robot, as its Hollywood nickname would have you believe. But it is at least one of the latest Russian armored vehicles, a technological jewel intended to protect the tanks it accompanies, hence its more academic generic name BMP-T (tank support combat vehicle in French).

According to the British Ministry of Defence, Russia deployed 10 of them in the assault on Severodonetsk. “The operational company BMP-T Terminator was probably deployed on the Severodonetsk axis“, wrote the ministry on Twitter last Sunday. Since then, Russian forces have been advancing and slowly nibbling ground in the Donbass. And the Ukrainian defense line is in serious trouble. The military situation is worse than reported, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Thursday, again calling on Western countries to deliver more heavy weapons than ever before.
