The National Immunization Program (RVP) is a collective prevention program of the government with the aim of preventing illness and death by means of vaccinations. From 1 January 2019, its implementation falls under the administrative responsibility of municipalities. In the Southeast Brabant region, the NIP is carried out by the Youth Health Care of the GGD.

Significant drop in HPV vaccination in Southeast Brabant

Figures from the RIVM show that the national vaccination coverage of almost all NIP vaccinations in 2021 was slightly lower than a year earlier. We see a similar picture in the Southeast Brabant region. We are seeing a significant drop in HPV vaccination, both nationally and regionally. This decrease is mainly the result of vaccinations postponed by corona. The 22 week shot, which protects the baby from whooping cough from birth, has fallen nationally to about 66% of all pregnant women, but has increased regionally to about 79%. This is the estimated participation.

Anonymous vaccinations point of concern

Since 1 January 2022, parents (and/or the child) must give permission to the JGZ to pass on vaccination data with personal data to the RIVM. If some of this data is missing, it cannot be determined whether the vaccination coverage is changing. The large share of anonymous vaccinations (about 12 percent) is therefore a concern.

Infographics have been drawn up on the basis of data from RIVM about the vaccination coverage for all municipalities within the Southeast Brabant region. These infographics can be found on the website of the GGD Brabant-Zuidoost.
